Your Independent Candidate for Division 9Fraser Coast Regional Council
While discussing issues important to ratepayers, the following issues raise concern -
• Infrastructure
• According to the ABS, the Fraser coast has the third highest percentage rate of growth in Queensland, with an increase in population of over 3,000 people each year. This places a significant strain on our infrastructure resources. Council needs to continue to address each of the areas listed below -
• Water
• Power
• Sewerage
• Roads
• Our infrastructure needs to keep up with population growth. We need to continue to encourage the State and Commonwealth governments to help cover the cost of increases in our population.
• Crime
Ratepayers say crime is a growing concern in the Hervey Bay area. This will need to include addressing homelessness, reducing opportunistic crime, and giving strong support to local programs such as Operation Hard Yakka which is a military style youth diversion training program to turn participants and young offenders lives around.
• Development
• We need to ensure development in the Fraser Coast continues, in keeping with the unique character of the area
• Continue the installation of footpaths in the suburban areas to support mobility of the elderly and disabled.
• It is important that wild life corridors are maintained through and around developments to allow local fauna to thrive.
• Ready to represent you in council.
